The new year 2025 commenced with a fruitful and productive residency in Paris, working as a singer-performer and composer with Georges Aperghis. The residency has been made possible with the support of #Culture moves Europe #CreativeEurope and #GoetheInstitut and it was centered around the study of the piece Récitations (1977-1978) for solo voice. Parallel to the performance rehearsals, we worked on compositions of mine focusing on aspects of contemporary music theatre and experimental vocal techniques. It has been a long and in-depth study, enhanced by the rich cultural life of Paris, which allowed me to attend opera performances, contemporary performances, visits and museums of contemporary art (Centre Pompidou) and many more. It will definitively remain a memorable travel !

durée : 45 minutes
Création de l’œuvre (version scénique) : 2 août 1982, Festival d’Avignon, Martine Viard, Michel Rostain (mise en scène).
L’image présentée, une récitation apprise par coeur – celle de l’écolier qui parfois hésite, puis se rattrape – rend plus poétique encore la déroute du sens que permet la répétition machinale.

C’est, comme d’autres l’ont dit – mais osons le pluriel : un portrait de femmes. On peut énumérer, répertorier, inventorier (des mots chers au compositeur) les attitudes que le compositeur suggère à chaque instant à l’interprète : déterminée (Récitation 10, partie gauche, 1ère version), câline mais peut-être indifférente (5), contemptrice au bord de la
cruauté (13), très jeune fille qui s’ouvre à la vie, écoutant sa maman (8, partie centrale, version verticale), mondaine mais démultipliée (11), acceptant son destin, et presque désincarnée (14)… Parce que chaque Récitation est un minuscule théâtre à soi seul. On joue sur la langue, sur son bruissement. C’est de l’humanité, plus généralement, dont parle le compositeur. Lui se pose dans la situation de celui qui doit inventer le petit alphabet du monde.
